New Chevrolet 3100 pickup for sale

1957 Chevrolet 3100 Stepside ratty Chevy but very rare, fresh California import
.
Just in from California is this rare 1957 Chevy 3100 short wheelbase stepside pickup which is ratty but useable and complete. Make no mistake, if you...>
want to win shows you will need to carry out a full restoration, but if you want the "in vogue" battered "patina" work truck look, then this could be the one. Buy it, run it as-is, then, when the rough and reayd look goes out of fashion, restore it and make it a real nice truck. The `57 is the rarest and hardest to find of the `55 to `57 "Task Force" or "second series" Chevy trucks and has a one year grill, hood and emblem set up. Okay, this arrived in a container on Monday 23rd April, and, though the battery had been left connected throughout it`s wait in the States and it`s subsequent container journey, it turned over on the key and fired right up and drove out and onto my trailer! Now that`s a very good start! Now that we have it round at the shop, it starts and runs no problem, no smoke, just needs a few minutes to warm up or you have to play about with the manual choke to find it`s best position. There are no knocks or bangs from the engine either, clutch is fine as are the floor mounted gears. Brakes work, even the park brake as the cables are surprisingly free - these are usually seized up. All the lights work as they should apart from the right front indicator, so that`s probably just a bulb. There`s only one wiper arm on it just now, will look for another, as the electric wiper motor works good - another plus as these often have vaccuum wipers which either don`t work or only work when they want to. The horn also works, again unusual. Okay, I haven`t given this a full inspection but I did have a look underneath and though the brakes work well enough, I did see that the flex hoses are cracked and could do with replacement as could some of the steel brake pipes. Rear shoes are getting low, fronts are fine. The front right wheelbearings are a bit worn and should be replaced, left side is good. One tyre is an odd size, 3 are 215 85R16 and one is 235 65R16. One of the 215s is worn, so you either need a pair of 215s or a single 235, which is okay as long as you pair same sizes up on an axle. Front indicator lenses are amber, they need to be changed to clear as they double as side lights. You will need UK spec 7" headlights, and if you go for halogens, they come with a sidelight aperature in them, so you could if you like use that by rerouting the sidelight wires and then you can leave the amber indicator lenses, it`s up to you, the lenses are cheap anyway. That`s it for mechanical and electrical, now onto the bodywork. Okay it`s battered and dented and has some rust as can be seen in the pics. In addition to what you can see, the inner cab steps have some rust, could be patched and are not in the MOT anyway and you`re not going to fall through them, I just like to be honest. The lower hinge pockets could do with some work as well, though both doors do open and close, but driver door has a fair bit of rust and is missing it`s wind down window. I can supply a better door with a window in it for you, but if you want the overall patina to stay uniform, then just put a window in the existing door. I should point out that the floor pans are solid, some of the best I`ve seen as is the panel above the windshield, both of these are usual rust spots on these trucks. I am listing this at a fixed price for the truck in "as-is" condition. If you want me to do any work, price will be higher, e.g. MOTd and registered, add £1000, want the steps and door hinge pockets fully replaced, add another £500, or fully restored, painted, etc would be circa £15K. Do yourself a favour, buy it cheap and do the work yourself, it`s half the fun of running an old truck. If you do want me to do any work for MOT, you will have to pay for the truck up front and the bill for the work when I register it. I am fed up wasting time and money importing to order on a promise of purchase, or doing work on a promise of purchase only to find buyer changes his mind, has a change of circumstances, breaks a major bone or loses a family member, I`ve heard it all, believe me! And please study the pics, it has dents and rust, don`t expect a show truck for this kind of money! Truck will be supplied with USA title, a bill of sale from me to you and the C&E 386 form proving duties have been paid. Once you get the MOT, all you need to do is take the above docs, MOT and insurance and £55 first reg fee to your local DVLA office, fill in a form and 3 days later a reg number and tax disc will pop through your door, and the V5 will follow later from Swansea. It is as simple as that! I can arrange delivery for you if you can`t come and collect it, or, if you like, arrange it yourself by going on to Shiply.com and list it for collection from FK3 8UF and delivery to your postcode. It`s like ebay, except that the car delivery companies bid each other down for your business. It`s a very easy process via Shiply, takes about 2 mins to create your free account and about the same to list your vehicle for movement, and it costs nothing until you accept a quote on line. I reckon the max you`d pay if living in say Devon would be under £400. I have had some vehicles from Essex for under £250. I can deliver personally on my transporter but that is quite expensive as it will cost my time out of the workshop and diesel both ways. I am not a haulier so would not be back loading. I will deliver free in Central Scotland. See my other listings for more kool projects or look at my website www.rocknrollmotors.co.uk for vehicles for sale to find out about our wedding hire with our `57 Chevy and `60 Mercury. Payment is cash or bank transfer, or even a cheque as long as it gets 10 days to clear before you pick the van up. Come and see it, I can pick you up at Edinburgh Airport or Linlithgow or Falkirk rail stations and return you after your visit. e-mail me on jim@rocknrollmotors.co.uk or phone me on 07593 187939, or try my home number on 01506 822878. Although we are based in Central Scotland, please do not let this be an issue for you as I pride myself on my descriptions and must add that on my other accounts and via magazines, I have never ever failed to sell a car to the first person who travels to see it! If you know what you are looking for, and do decide to come and see, I can assure you the car will be as described here. There is no point in me telling lies about a car, as, quite simply, when you come and see it, you will not buy it if it`s not as described, so, a big waste of time for me and a waste of time and money for you. I have no wish to deceive any potential buyer, I`ve been on the receiving end of that in the past, travelling many hundreds of miles to see something very much different from what was described to me. I aim to change that as a business seller. I`d rather gain a new friend and not sell you a car than sell you something and make a new enemy!! I am an enthusiast first and business man second. If you want to come and look, I can pick you up at Edinburgh Airport, or Linlithgow or Falkirk rail stations and return you after your visit. us through ebay, our own website www.rocknrollmotors.co.uk, or e-mail horn.chevy@blueyonder.co.uk or jim@rocknrollmotors.co.uk or phone on 07593 187939 or my home number (though I`m never in!) is 01506 822878. Thanks for looking and please don`t hesitate to ask any questions. Payment terms are as follows: cash on collection, bank wire transfer before car leaves here, or cleared cheque, before car leaves here, NO PAYPAL on this. Also available, look out for them being listed on ebay soon or ask me and I will list on ebay right away for you: 1948 Chevy 2 ton chassis cab, UK reg and road taxed but needing restoration, but rust free cab and used in the filming of Cloud Atlas, 1959 Chevrolet Apache Fleetside truck in primer with all bodywork and welding done but needs an engine and trans (available), also used in Cloud Atlas, 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier Convertible, 1960 Chevrolet BelAir, again used in Cloud Atlas, 1978 Ford Pinto Cruisin` Wagon, 1982 Porsche 944, 1989 Ford escort XR3i Cabriolet, 1992 Mercedes 230 CE coupe, 1992 Mercedes 190E, 2000 Mercedes SLK 320, 2002 Mercedes 230K coupe with panoramic sunroof, 2000 Toyota Yaris 45000 miles, 2001 Peugeot 206 1.6 with 64000 miles, 1978 Ford D-series flatbed truck 7.5 tonne gross, 1973 Foden S80 tractor unit with Cummins 220, 1986 Ford Transit beavertail, and just arrived from America a 1957 Chevrolet 3100 stepside truck, a 1955 Chevrolet stepside truck, 1955 Chverolet panel van, 1951 Ford F1 stepside truck, 1965 Ford Mustang coupe V8, and arriving soon 1959 Chevrolet panel van, a `53 Chevrolet panel van and a 1967 Ford Mustang coupe and not forgetting the 1958 Chevrolet 3200 which we are currently building up from a bare chassis for a full restoration to standard spec, now almost complete, just waiting on glass and some wiring work.
